Mother Roots

What's it all about?

Mother Roots is raising awareness of the potency of M/othering in every aspect of life. To explore, tend, celebrate and amplify this vital, regenerative life force within our communities and enable us to weave more resilience in facing the future together.

Mother Roots grew from the TTT Community Champion programme in Summer 2021 and considers ‘Mothering’ within the context of today’s global society and the problems we face. The founding premise is that ‘mothering’ is a way of being, an approach, and encompasses activities well beyond parenting our children.

Relational based work that is fundamental to our communal health and well-being, yet widely unseen and undervalued. This relative invisibility reflects our currently dysfunctional relationship to our community, ecosystem and ‘resources’ and impoverishes our predominant economic and social systems.

Mother Roots seeks to explore more fully what ‘mothering’ is, how it may be made more visible and how these conversations may stimulate movement toward a more resilient, socially just and regenerative culture going forward.

Mother Roots hosts community events designed to raise awareness of the potency of Mothering in every aspect of life. How might engaging from a Mothering perspective enrich our approach to socio-ecological systems such as environment, planning, transport, economics? We seek to explore, tend, celebrate and amplify this vital, regenerative and inclusive perspective within our communities and enable us to weave more inclusion and resilience in facing the future together.

To date we have conducted exploratory meetings with relevant local organisations, identifying themes that arise when we consider Mothering. We have held a Conception Day with self-identified ‘M/others’, where we considered what Mothering is, the wounds, the gifts/skills and the visions that surface when we engage with
Mothering energy.

We are currently expanding our work into the wider community to explore everyone’s relationship to Mothering and being mothered and how opening to this might influence how we arrive and engage in our own local communities?
